A couple of months after I first announced my craft bucket list a very nice lady got in touch with me to ask if I wanted to give her lavender cushion rag rugging kit a go and I said yes I would, well she sent it me and I did it straight away, it didn’t take me long and I very much enjoyed it. Before I blogged it I was approached by Make and Craft and asked if I would like to review it for that, so I said yes, as it was a great way of saying thank you to the lovely lady behind Rag Rug Textiles. To be honest I had forgotten about it as I sent it before Christmas, but it is now out so I am going to share it here now as well.
I am super grateful for the chance to have a play with this and like I said it was very quick and very simple. It really didn’t take me long and the instuctions that came with it were very easy to follow. Everything I needed was there, the only thing I added was some stuffing, which is optional. It was so satisfying to do and I have to say my kitties love it!
This is my review:
Rag Rugs Lavender kit bag is a great introduction to Rag Rugging. Rag Rugging was new to me but with this kit it didn’t take me long to get it and to make up the Lavender bag. You get everything you need except the stuffing (but this is optional anyway) so I decided to use some polystyrene balls I had from an old lap tray that was past its time.
In the kit you get – some fabric, more than enough (I had a lot left over), a lavender bag, a prodder which is used to poke the fabric through the hessian (also provided), backing fabric and some instructions. You also get a small sample to give you an idea of what it should look like and to practise on if you feel you need to, but it is super simple to do and doesn’t take long to grasp at all. You can also pull out a strip of fabric in the sample to use as a guide to cut your strips which is what I did. The instructions are very easy to follow and guide you completely through the process.
The bag only took me a few hours to make up, it was very satisfying and enjoyable to do. If this is a craft you have ever wanted to try then I recommend this kit. I am very pleased with my finished cushion.
This is the finished cushion:
Thankyou again Rag Rug Textiles for giving me the chance to tick rag rugging off my list!
